The Silent Epidemic
The late Dr. John Ott, renowned photobiologist and father of full-spectrum light technology, was the first light researcher to recognize this emerging silent epidemic of 'sunlight & vitamin D starvation' and named it "Mal-illumination." Like malnutrition, mal-illumination deprives one of a level of nutrients and rhythmic stimulation that is essential for living as whole, healthy humans. Unknowingly, millions suffer from chronic mal-illumination.
Current research has implicated sunlight and vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and more. Whether one is suffering or feeling generally “fine”— more biologically-beneficial light can actually improve general wellness for the young and old... healthy or sick!
"In terms of healing…the implications are immense. We now know, for example, that light can initiate, or arrest, cascade-like reactions in the cells, and that genetic cellular damage can be virtually repaired, within hours, by faint beams of light."
